Collaboration for a cause – creating housing opportunities in regional NSW

We collaborated with Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) and Westbury Constructions, to provide more social housing opportunities in regional NSW that meet the needs of people living on low incomes and also to provide jobs within the construction industry. We worked extensively with local council, consultants and the client in order to meet the development requirements.

LAHC identified South Parade as the site on which this residential mixed use development stands. It is in close proximity to the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, train station and city centre. It aims to enhance the established sense of community and cater to the varying living needs presented in existing area and considers the residential, social and cultural fabric of the town.

In addition to aesthetics sympathetic to the surrounding area this project required a practical solution for the increasing population of the city. The varied layouts of the units include eight one bedroom, two double bedroom apartments and an adaptable unit on the ground floor that is wheel chair accessible. Sustainable elements where also incorporated into the design including solar panels, rainwater storage for watering the garden and drought tolerant native landscaping to further enhance the functional aspects and street appeal of this much needed development.
