Contemporary updates to give sharper aesthetic
Our client brief for this country homestead aims to transform the arrival point and create an efficient and adaptable home for a growing young family. A pronounced new entry which is sharp and angular has been introduced, giving better definition to the facade located on the edge of town. The eye is directed straight to the entry, consisting of a large black framed glazed front door, bringing in streams of rays of warm sunlight and brightening up the area.
Several changes were made to enhance the function and liveability of the country home. The main bathroom was reconfigured into a three-way arrangement, including a laundry and mudroom and a multi-purpose space consisting of a guest room with ensuite was added. The additions and alterations were designed to suit the growing young family and accommodate guests.
A pool structure was introduced with outdoor kitchen, dining space, enclosed bathroom and change area. The skillion roofline provides shade and has a sleek, minimalist, and clean aesthetic. To tie in with the existing interior fireplace and new entry piers, the material selection, incorporating natural stone for the exterior of the pool house were repeated. Furthermore, timber exterior cladding in a natural finish, drawing inspiration from the site's rural backdrop consisting of native vegetation was included. The improved pool area will provide the family years of enjoyment to come, greatly enhancing comfort and liveability.
