Sutherlands Road – Landscape Design and Additions

Our team has successfully combined the expertise of an architect and landscape architect to develop a design that seamlessly ties in the built form with the landscape. The project is set in picturesque country side with vast, sweeping views, just minutes from Wagga Wagga. The architectural component is a sleek, contemporary style pergola, intently chosen to contrast with the traditional aesthetic of the existing house. A beautiful deck area will give the family the additional outdoor living and dining space they desire. To enhance comfort and liveability given the outdoor room’s northern orientation, the owners are thrilled that a retractable roof over the pergola will provide them with inviting space all year around.

The role of the landscape architect was to site a much anticipated swimming pool in the ideal position and to enhance its connection to the outdoor room. A beautiful connection has been achieved through a well-considered stepped down deck onto large format textured pavers that surround the refreshing swimming pool. Gorgeous plantings consisting of lush grasses and robust small rounded shrubs will soften the deck and also the pool fencing.  Expanses of green, lush lawn surrounding the country homestead, will evoke a sense of freedom and openness, which epitomises country living.  To provide scale and a defined boundary between the house yard and surrounding country side, easy care, hardy trees have been carefully selected as future plantings. We are excited to be part of this young family’s project which will foster treasured life long memories of long afternoons spent playing games on the sprawling lawns, swimming in the pool and entertaining or relaxing on the deck with family and friends.
