Our established relationship with the Wagga Wagga Christian College saw another collaboration with Mark G Golden & Associates to deliver the middle school phase of the master plan. The project consisted of a two storey building with eight general learning areas, four shared learning areas, male and female amenities (with accessible facilities), staff room and verandah. A significant part of the project was the adjacent urban square, providing an accessible path to the first floor, a series of 'cluster' areas for students and importantly providing a pedestrian connection between the junior and middle school.
The interior layout featured multiple seating and reading nooks and extensive joinery to accommodate learning resources in a way that is as organised and accessible as possible. We incorporated folding doors within learning areas to provide the options of either separating or opening up the learning spaces. Being a two storey project, there is a significant amount of perforated metal decorative balustrading, enhancing safety and at the same time giving a modern aesthetic.
Joss Group was the appointed builder, who undertook the project at a high level of professionalism and competency.
“Congratulations on another wonderful project at WWCC! I love the new classroom block – the spaces that you have created have a ‘homely’, comfortable feel to them which welcomes the visitor.
There is a sense of space but still intimacy in the spaces as well as a good sense of light in each room...Once the landscaping is complete it will be another asset for not only break time and outdoor learning but also for community events.
I think the building ties in so sympathetically with the library building and Junior School and the fact it is hidden behind the existing quad buildings maintains the spacious, uncrowded feel of the College campus. Well done to you both and the team for your efforts! ” - Heidi Combes
