Eco-Friendly Living: A Two-Pod Residence Overlooking Wagga Wagga
Designed in collaboration with the client from 2011, this eco-conscious residence comprises two distinct pods—a main residence and guest quarters—strategically positioned atop a rocky outcrop to capture sweeping views across Wagga Wagga.
The design prioritises environmental sustainability, utilising a lightweight frame construction with high-performance insulation in both walls and roofing. Passive solar orientation, large expanses of high-performance glazing, and hydronic heating further enhance the home’s energy efficiency, ensuring year-round thermal comfort with minimal environmental impact.
Architectural elements such as cantilevered floor slabs, zincalume wall and roof cladding, and polished concrete flooring contribute to the home’s contemporary aesthetic while reinforcing its durability and sustainability. The interplay of robust materials with an open, light-filled interior creates a harmonious balance between structure and landscape.
Constructed by David Gorrie of Go Green Building, the project stands as a testament to sustainable design principles seamlessly integrated with architectural refinement. The striking interplay between form and function has been beautifully documented by Merrigan Photography, capturing the home’s deep connection to its surrounding landscape.
