Stunning Contemporary Family House Located at Griffith
Perched on a steep site in the heart of Griffith, the Waugh Street Residence embraces both its terrain and its context through a composition of simple forms and refined detailing. The design responds directly to the site’s gradient, stepping naturally with the land to anchor the home while maintaining a sense of lightness and balance.
The façade layers clean geometry with a restrained material palette — a balance of crisp white render, dark cladding, and textured stone. Together, these elements create a strong yet composed street presence, offset by the softness of landscaped terraces and natural greenery.
Large openings frame views and draw light deep into the interior, while the interplay of form and shadow gives the exterior an evolving character throughout the day. The home’s bold simplicity reflects a commitment to clarity — both in line and in purpose.
Inside, warmth and openness define the spatial experience. Natural oak flooring and vertical timber detailing bring a tactile contrast to the crisp white walls, creating a calm, timeless backdrop for everyday life.
The entryway welcomes with height and light — a moment of pause before the home unfolds. A sculpted staircase of oak and glass becomes a focal point, allowing light to move freely between levels and maintaining a visual connection throughout.
Each junction and material transition was carefully considered to achieve a seamless, cohesive flow from one space to the next. The interior palette continues the architectural language of restraint and precision, ensuring every element feels intentional and enduring.
Realised in close collaboration with builder Ryan Colpo, the project is a testament to craftsmanship and trust — and to our clients, whose openness and vision made it possible.
