On The Drawing Board – Hodson Ave

This project has involved the demolition of an existing old house to make way for a new house. The site is located in Turvey Park opposite the Botanical Gardens on a steep sloping, corner block. We have designed the house to be two storey to address the steepness of the site. An important part of the brief is to create an entertainers home. This has been achieved by incorporating a large outdoor deck which flows from the internal living space. The deck provides additional entertaining space and has beautiful eastern views to the Gardens.

Despite being a new build, this house design embodies a traditional Australian style through the use of weatherboard cladding and a first floor wrap around veranda. This new house will sit harmoniously in its established streetscape.

It is worth noting that the house design utilises a number of passive design principles to enhance comfort and liveability, and to promote environmental sustainability.
